Chemical Properties
It has reducing properties and can undergo redox reactions with strong oxidants. For example, it reacts with potassium permanganate under acidic conditions. The reaction equation is:
2KMnO4+5Na2C2O4+8H2SO4 =K2SO4+2MnSO4 +5Na2SO4+10CO2↑+8H2O.
It can form oxalate precipitates with some metal ions. For example, it reacts with calcium ions to form calcium oxalate precipitate, which can be used for the qualitative test and quantitative analysis of calcium ions.
Uses
