Quality Standards: For analytical grade, the content of SnCl4 is ≥99.0%, and for chemical pure grade, it is ≥98.0%. There are also strict limitations on the contents of impurities such as sulfate, iron, antimony, and arsenic.
Uses: It is mainly used in the manufacture of organotin compounds. It can also be used as an analytical reagent, an organic synthesis dehydrating agent, and is used in the electroplating industry, coatings, papermaking, and the electronics industry. In organic synthesis reactions, it can be used as a catalyst for esterification, nucleophilic substitution, and other reactions, or as a hydrogenation reagent.
Precautions: It is moderately toxic and has a strong irritating effect on the eyes, skin, mucous membranes, and respiratory tract. Inhalation may lead to death due to laryngeal and bronchial spasms, edema, inflammation, chemical pneumonia, and pulmonary edema.
