Chemical Properties
Acidity: It is an acidic salt. In aqueous solution, it can dissociate to produce hydrogen ions, showing acidic properties. It can react with bases to form corresponding salts and water. For example, it reacts with potassium hydroxide to form potassium sulfate and water, and the chemical equation is KHSO4 +KOH=K2SO4 +H2O.
Decomposition reaction: When heated to a high temperature, it decomposes to produce sulfur trioxide and potassium sulfate. The chemical equation is 2KHSO4===ΔK2SO4+SO3 ↑+H2O.
Oxidation - reduction reaction: In some cases, the sulfate radical in potassium bisulfate can participate in oxidation - reduction reactions under specific conditions.
