Chemical Properties
- Thermal Decomposition:

- Hydration and Dehydration:
- The heptahydrate loses 4 water molecules at 55-65ºC to form the trihydrate (CoSO4·3H2O) and becomes anhydrous above 100ºC.
- Reactivity:
- Aqueous solutions are acidic and react with alkalis to form cobalt hydroxide precipitate:CoSO4+2NaOH→Co(OH)2↓+Na2SO4
