The common hydrate is the hexahydrate, with the formula Er(NO3)3⋅6H2O.
CAS No. : 10031-51-3 (the CAS No. of the hexahydrate is 13477-73-7).
Appearance: Pink crystals.
Solubility: Easily soluble in water and also soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol.
Melting Point: Approximately 85ºC (for the hexahydrate).
Stability: Stable under normal temperature and pressure, but may react when heated or in contact with strong reducing agents and other specific substances.

Production Process
It is usually prepared by the reaction of erbium oxide Er2O3 with nitric acid. Erbium oxide is slowly added to an appropriate amount of dilute nitric acid, and the reaction is carried out at a certain temperature. The reaction equation is: 
Er2O3+6HNO3→2Er(NO3)3+3H2O. After the reaction is completed, the hydrated crystals of erbium nitrate are obtained through operations such as evaporation, concentration, and cooling crystallization.
