Functions and Uses
Raw material for organic synthesis: It is an important intermediate for organic synthesis. In the pesticide field, it is used to synthesize organophosphorus insecticides and acaricides such as sulprofos, profenofos and bromophos - ethyl. In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used to prepare intermediates for drugs such as thiamine propyl disulfide and probenecid. It is also used in the dye and perfume industries and as a raw material for Grignard reagents.
Solvent: It can be used as a solvent for some organic compounds to dissolve fats, oils, resins, etc.
Production Methods
1 - Bromopropane:
Reaction of n - propanol with hydrobromic acid: Add hydrobromic acid to concentrated sulfuric acid, and then add n - propanol. Heat under reflux for a period of time, and then distill out the generated bromopropane. The product is obtained through steps such as washing, neutralization, drying and distillation.
Reaction of n - propanol with sodium bromide: Heat n - propanol, water and sodium bromide to reflux, and add sulfuric acid dropwise. After the reaction, distill and collect the corresponding fraction, and then obtain 1 - bromopropane through operations such as washing and distillation. In addition, 1 - bromopropane can also be prepared by the reaction of n - propanol with bromine in the presence of red phosphorus.
2 - Bromopropane: It is obtained by the reaction of isopropanol with hydrobromic acid. In the reaction process, conditions such as temperature and concentration need to be controlled. After the reaction is completed, the product is obtained through separation and purification operations.
Storage and Transportation
Storage: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 37ºC. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, alkalis and active metal powders, and avoid mixed storage.
Transportation: During transportation, the transportation vehicle should be equipped with corresponding types and quantities of fire - fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. It is better to transport in the morning and evening in summer. The tank truck used for transportation should be equipped with a grounding chain, and a perforated partition can be set in the tank to reduce the static electricity generated by vibration. It is strictly prohibited to load and transport it together with oxidants, alkalis and food chemicals.
