Pharmaceutical Industry: It serves as a crucial intermediate in the synthesis of various drugs. For instance, it is used in the production of ribavirin, an antiviral drug. It is also involved in the synthesis of trapidil, a coronary vasodilator, and some anticancer drugs like methylglyoxal bis(guanylhydrazone).
Dye Industry: It is utilized in the manufacture of cationic dyes, such as Cationic Red 2BL and X - GRL, which are widely employed in the textile industry for dyeing acrylic fabrics to achieve bright colors and good color fastness.

Preparation Methods
Calcium Cyanamide Method (Mainstream Process): Calcium cyanamide reacts with hydrazine hydrate to form aminoguanidine sulfate, which is then neutralized with ammonium bicarbonate to precipitate aminoguanidine bicarbonate.
Methyl Isothiourea Method: Methyl isothiourea sulfate reacts with hydrazine hydrate and sodium bicarbonate through condensation, followed by separation and purification to obtain the product.
Aminocyanide Method: Aminocyanide reacts with hydrazine sulfate to form aminoguanidine sulfate, which then reacts with sodium bicarbonate to produce aminoguanidine bicarbonate.
